Background:	MFP1 encodes a DNA-binding protein that binds to plastid DNA non-specifically and is associated with nucleoids and thylakoid membranes. MFP1 is required for the normal initiation of starch granules in Arabidopsis chloroplasts. MFP1 is required for proper PTST2 location within the chloroplast.
